![]() ![]() We tried to re-create this masterpiece of the art of painting with our contemporary art means – in the language of the textile, fashion design, jewelry and photography. Each detail of her image is speaking of that – the golden crown on the flowing golden curls of her hairs, soft face and white-and-gold dress glimmering in the beam of the daylight. She is unreachable ideal of the purity, bodily and spiritual beauty, the patroness of the knights in service of light and good. ![]() For the last hundred years both, art connoisseur and popular public, are equally charmed by this painting: not only because popularity of Arthur's theme and its courtly poetic, not just because of Leighton's craftsmanship, – but, mainly, because of the delicate appearance of the beautiful Queen Guinevere who became the embodiment and the symbol of the image of the Lady of the Heart in knightly compassion. This is a truly dress for the Medieval Queen: heavy and luxurious, but yet elegant and romantic.Įvery knight would be inspired to serve to this Queen! About “The Accolade” collection:įor the creation of this garment collection we were inspired by “Accolade” (1901) – the famous painting of the Edmund Leighton who's interest for the Medieval subjects and manner was greatly influenced by early inquests of the Pre-Paphaellites Brotherhood. The ornament for the triangular decollete cut (also specifically designed by us for this dress) has a slightly different rhythm and structure dictated by the shape of the decollete cut (its triangular form demanded lighter more graceful variation of the ornament). The ornament for the decoration of the sleeves upper parts and the hemline was developed by our designers based on the traditional Celtic ornaments. Each wedge is decorated with two elements of the golden embroidery, that is – twelve embroidered elements per skirt. The skirt consists of six wedges, and has a length of the hemline about 9 m (30 feet). ![]() They are additionally attached to the base fabric with gold metal beads.įlared Cut skirt is draped into the deep folds. Long flared sleeves are trimmed with gold braid on the edge and lined inside with the silk. Narrow bodice is tighten to the size by two pieces of golden lace which are simultaneously decorating the side seams.ĭeep triangular cut and shoulder parts of the sleeves are decorated with golden brocade additionally enhanced with the application of the golden metalized net, golden lace embroidery and Swarovski crystals. The dress is made of white Italian natural velvet. It is harmonious combination of the classical silhouette of Late Middle Ages – narrow bodice, lowered waistline and long full skirt draped in the relief folds, – with the elements of the Renaissance costume – lush and voluminous sleeves and rich embroidery on the dress hemline.
